In this semi itinerant bike tour, you will discover some of the most beautiful landscapes of Brittany. You will cycle along forests, beaches and cliffs.

  • This cycling tour in South Britanny will show you the beauty of the wild Atlantic Coast. You will discover the traditionnal village of Erdeven, the river of Etel but also St Cado Island. On your way, you will pass through the standing stones (menhirs) until you reach Carnac and its amazing "alignment of Carnac". Hop from the beautiful peninsula of Quiberon to Belle Ile en Mer island and enjoy the magic of the Atlantic ocean.
    On this tour, you will ride on cyclable paths and small countryside roads. You will pass through a lot of small Breton villages.

    Arrival in Erdeven area

    Arrival in Erdeven. Walk your way through Erdeven and discover the charm of a traditionnal Breton village.

    Day trip to Etel River and St Cado island

    You’ll cross the woods until you reach the river and the Sea Gulf. The Etel river and St Cado island are among the most beautiful natural sites of this area.The sandbank of Etel, closes a bay rich in marshes, oyster parks, dunes, wild beaches and colourful boats. You will be amazed by the diversity of the landscape.

    Erdeven - Quiberon via Carnac

    Riding cyclable path and small countryside roads, you will reach Carnac and the most famous stand stones of the region : "Carnac alignments". You can enjoy your time there and discover the Celtic myths of the region by doing a guided visit of the site.
    Keep on cycling toward the long sandy beaches of Carnac. Take your time and discover the lively city of Carnac then have a break in the oyster park of St Colomban. Discover the magical feeling of tasting a fresh oyster platter.
    Follow your road and reach Quiberon peninsula. You will ride cyclable path until you arrive in Kerhostin, a small typical Breton village with blue shutters houses in the north of the peninsula.

    Relax on Quiberon peninsula

    Enjoy this day on Quiberon peninsula and relax. Discover the modern and lively seaside city of Quiberon. You can take advantage of your time there to visit the famous sardine factory of la Belle Iloise and taste the sweets named "Niniches"
    You also can ride to the "pointe du Conguel" to reach the extremity of the peninsula and enjoy the view.
    Quiberon also have beautiful sand beaches and you may choose to end the day in Portivy, a coulourful harbour to admire the sunset.

    Quiberon-Belle Ile en Mer

    You take the boat with your luggages and your bikes.
    Take the boat to Belle-Ile and start your visit by exploring the eastern part of the island through small country roads and paths to Locmaria. Stop along the way for a stop at one of the many beaches ideal for swimming and easily accessible. Do not hesitate to take a few detours to access more isolated beaches but all the more beautiful such as Plage de la Biche or Plage de Herlin. For a short walk with a view, stop at the Baluden cliffs before heading back to Le Palais.

    Belle Ile en Mer

    Today, the tour will bring you to the north part of the second biggest island of the Morbihan, and you will discover on the way the countryside, animals, cliffs and the deep blue water of the sea. Enjoy the beautiful viewpoint on "Les Aiguilles de Port Coton" which inspired the painter Claude Monet, take a deep breath at the Pointe des Poulains and don’t miss the small fort which used to be the summer house of the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt for 30 years. Continue your journey, leave your bikes and go for a walk in Sauzon village and have a look at the colourful houses around the harbour before heading back to Le Palais.

    Quiberon-Erdeven area

    You take the boat with your luggages and your bikes.
    Get back to the starting point exploring the megalith path and it various dolmens. Will you be able to discover all the standing stones hidden in the woods?
    At the end of the path you will reach the village of Erdeven.

    Enjoy your day in Erdeven before leaving.

    On your arrival day, we provide you with:

    • a touring bike adjusted to your size or a tandem
    • equipped : front rack pack with an integrated file compartment, saddlebag, helmet (on demand), reflective vest, repairing toolkit with patches etc.

    We also provide you with the appropriate equipment for your children : baby seat, bike trailer or trailer bike depending on their age and size.

    Electric bikes are also available for adults (+1m55).

    You can of course also bring your own bikes, in this case a reduction will be applied (see the Tarif tab)


    Luggage

    Our services include luggage transport in order to let you enjoy your trip comfortably and without stress :
    • We transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next using a private vehicle.
    • Your luggage is directly delivered in your accommodation before you arrive.
    • We provide a saddlebag for the things you shall need during the day.

    Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.
    If you expect to arrive at the next accommodation before 5 p.m., we recommend that you take an extra set of clothes with you in your bicycle bag.


    Travel documents

    A cycling holiday is the best way to explore a region and discover its culture, landscapes and local traditions.

    Your tour is self-guided to give you the freedom to ride at your own pace. You will be provided all the information you need to enjoy the itinerary and its points of interests.

    We can provide you with travel documents in paper format (for a supplement of €15 for printing and postage), which include:
    • a roadbook with maps that we drew at the easiest scale to follow on a bike
    • a roadbook with step-by-step description giving the direction to follow at each intersection and highlighting the points of interest

    Our GPS App

    For this trip, you can also use our smartphone app featuring GPS guidance (without extra fee).

    You will find in the app all the information given in the map and step-by-step roadbooks. You will be located on the itinerary with the GPS device of your phone. The route and directions to follow will be both viewable on the screen of your phone and announced aloud. As you ride along the itinerary, you will be given information about visits, restaurants, services and useful alerts on the way.

    -> You need to have a smartphone and download Le Velo Voyageur app on your Apple or Android store before the trip. All details concerning the downloading and the use of the application will be given after we have confirmed the booking and the balance is paid. Once the trip is downloaded, the GPS guidance can be used off-line.

  • To get to departure point:


    • By plane: flight for Rennes, Lorient or Quimper

    • By train: In TGV until Auray from Paris Montparnasse station (3h30 of train), then take a bus or a taxi to reach Erdeven.

    If you come by car, you can park your car at the hotel parking in Erdeven.


    Meeting time:

    The first day is an arrival day without cycling. You arrive whenever you want depending on from where you come. Please note that rooms are usually available in the middle of the afternoon depending on your accommodation. We thank you to advise us if you plan to arrive late.

    Randonnée très agréable avec un parcours varié dans un cadre magnifique, des hôtels accueillants avec des repas en demi pension de bonne qualité. Les changements rapide de temps de fin octobre avec des alternances de soleil et de pluie permettent de voir nombreux arc en ciel.

    The route was beautiful, the scenery of the land in combination with the sea was great. We really enjoyed the variation between cycling days and rest days. On the second day we had a puncture, but Le Vélo Voyageur were very quick to respond and arrange for the tire to be changed at a local bike shop.

    Belle Ile and Carnac

    A nice trip in Southern Bretagne. Specially the journey to Belle Ile and the two days on this beautiful island is a highlight.

    Tout est dans le titre. Que les voyageurs ne s'inquietent pas s'ils tombent sur un chemin de foret inondé avec une grosse flaque dans les 10 premieres minutes de l'itineraire depuis Erdeven. L'obstacle peut etre franchi en direct pour les plus téméraires, avec risque de mouiller les souliers, ou contourné par le pré sur la gauche a condition de passer un peu dans les ronces. Une fois la premiere grosse flaque passée l'itinéraire est praticable sans aucune difficulté, et les circuits des autres jours ne reservent pas de mauvaise surprise.

    Eine wunderschöne Tour. Alles war von den Veranstalterinnen bestens vorbereitet und hat prima geklappt. Vor allem die Hotels in Quiberon und Le Palais waren sehr schön und das Essen dort war sehr gut. Wir fanden es sehr angenehm, nicht jeden Tag das Hotel wechseln zu müssen.
