  • The medieval flair of Amboise is perfect for two-day lovely break. You can choose between different cycle tours, depending on your interests.

Two round trips take you the most emblematic castles of the Loire Valley, Chenonceau which spans over the Cher river, or Chaumont which is world famous for its International Garden Festival. You can alternatively go to Tours on the Vouvray wine road or the Mountlouis-sur-Loire wine road. In that case, you take the regional train to come back to Amboise with your bikes. Last but not least, enjoy Amboise, its lively streets, the visit of the Clos Lucé and the views on the Gothic castle.

    DAY 1

    Amboise

Let the medieval atmosphere of this city seduce you. Admire the machines designed by Leonard da Vinci which are surprisingly up-to-date in Clos-Lucé, the last place where he lived and died.

Day trip to the castle of Chenonceau

    Bike
    45/70km
    2 route options
Your tranquil bike route today leads you through idyllic natural beauty with rivers and forests, leading to the most iconic Chateaux de la Loire, the "Chateau de Chenonceau". This historical castle had an almost uninterrupted succession of women who built, restored and saved the castle. Today it is one of the most photographed castles in France. If you like, continue riding along the banks of the Cher River until you reach the underground city near Bourre. This suberranan city can be viewed to experience what life was like living in a cave-structure. You’ll see an amazing reconstruction of an underground city.

Day trip to the wine route of Vouvray

    Bike
    34km
    Return by train (20 min)
Leaving Amboise on the right bank you reach the hilly vineyards of Vouvray. You can stop and taste the famous "crémant de Vouvray", a sparkling wine and learn the art of vinification. You reach Tours by taking a little bridge over the Loire and leading you directly into the center of the old town center. At Tours train station you can easily hop into a train taking you back to Amboise.

Visit of the Clos Lucé 2h

Free visit of the château, Leonardo’s workshop, the cultural park and the "Leonardo da Vinci, painter and architect" galleries.

    Séjour vélo très agréable

    On the 2020-07-24 by Laurent

It was wonderful right from the start!

A huge thanks to le Velo Voyageur, we had an amazing trip and they made everything so very simple for us. All the information from maps to accommodation were sent to us well in advance. They were very friendly and helpful and we highly recommend them. The only downside... it wasn't long enough!! We'll be back!

Great company to organise your cycling trip!

    On the 2019-05-28 by Adeline
We booked a 2-day cycling trip around Amboise in the Loire Valley. All the instructions and booking vouchers were emailed within 10-14 days prior to the trip and we had no problem using the voucher to enter the castle or hotel. The rental bike company didn’t seem to be aware of our arrival but didn’t seem to mind and proceeded to show us to the bikes! What’s really great is the app that they use for the routes, it has very detailed instructions on where to go/turn, in most cases they even had a picture of the actual junction with arrow to mark which way we should go, very easy! The app does drain your phone battery quickly so I suggest bringing a powerbank with you and you can quickly top up the battery while you stop for break or visiting the chateaux and vineyards!

Weekend magnifique autour d’Amboise, accueil et organisation bien rodés, circuits sympas. À refaire.

    Un super week-end à Amboise

    On the 2018-06-04 by Delphine

    On the 2017-07-23 by Xavier

    boucle Amboise

    On the 2017-05-25 by Martine
