  • A 2-day escape cycling Loire between Tours and Langeais

    Take a two-days-break to enjoy the sweetness and the exceptional cultural heritage of the Loire Valley. You bike on the “Loire à vélo” cycle path starting from the city center of Tours and then winding along the Loire banks until you reach the Villandry castle.

    Discover in wonder the Villandry gardens living up to their reputation. You sleep in the village of Azay-le-Rideau and bike again the following day at your own pace either through fields and vineyards or on the riverside. Take time to visit Langeais castle or Ussé castle ­as you prefer.

    DAY 1

     

    Tours - Azay

    You wind on the cycling path along the Loire to leave Tours and reach the château de Villandry with its beautiful French gardens. Enjoy the banks of the Loire Valley before riding up through forests towards the château d’Azay-le-Rideau.

    DAY 2

     

    Azay - Langeais

    Cycle through forests and fields all the way to the Loire. Admire one of the only medieval castles of Loire valley: the château de Langeais. You cross a magnificent medieval bridge under which traditional boats are swinging.

    Extension : tour to Saché

    Between day 1 and day 2 (extra day).
     
    You bike through the forest to Saché, known for the château de Saché, a place where Balzac a very famous French writer liked to stay. The tour continues along cave houses to Villaines-les-Roches. You can extend the tour and visit Thilouze and the château du Plessis.

    On your arrival day, we provide you with :
    • a touring bike adjusted to your size or a tandem
    • equipped : front rack pack with an integrated file compartment, saddlebags, helmet (on demand), reflective vest, repairing toolkit with patches etc.

    We also provide you with the appropriate equipment for your children : baby seat, bike trailer or trailer bike depending on their age and size.

    Electric bikes are also available for adults for some trips. If available, the option is specified on the page "prices".

    Luggage


    Our services include luggage transport in order to let you enjoy your trip comfortably and without stress (optional for short trips) :
    • We transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next using a private vehicle.
    • Your luggage is directly delivered in your hotel room before you arrive.
    • We provide bicycle saddlebags for the things you shall need during the day.

    If your package doesn't include luggage transport,
    the bikes will be equipped with 2 waterproof saddlebags with 10 to 20L capacity each to carry your things.

    Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.

    Travel documents

    To go on a bike trip is the best way to discover the regional and local culture.


    Activities and must-sees along your route are pinpointed by specific icons in our road book. These activities have also been listed in a leaflet presenting the practical information as well as some anecdotes.

    Our detailed travel documents allow you to ride freely, at your own pace.

    It contains :

    • A road book or daily sheets : detailed description of the route with maps highlighting the different points of interest.
    • A cultural and touristic leaflet : anecdotes, historical explanations, description and practical information about the different points of interest along the route.
