  • A 3-day cycling tour on the seashore to Ile de Ré

    Enjoy for a week-end the invigorating air of the ocean. You start this cycling tour in La Rochelle, a former protestant and prosperous town, and get out of town on the cycling path to the bridge of “Ile de Ré”. You wander as you wish on the many bicycle paths of “Ile de Ré”. From village to village and from beach to beach, this short break will make you feel very alive.

    DAY 1

     

    La Rochelle

     
    La Rochelle prosperous past can be easily noticed thanks to its nice architecture from which the old fortified harbor is remarkable. The city offers a wide range of cultural and touristic activities. Don’t miss La Rochelle aquarium. The city is very well equipped with cycling paths, which makes it perfect for discovering it on a bicycle.

    La Rochelle – Saint-Martin-de-Ré

    Facing La Rochelle, “Ile de Ré” is just a few pedal strokes away. You ride on the cycling paths along the coast or through the vineyards to Saint-Martin-de-Ré where you sleep.

    Suggested day trip : through the swamps of Loix

    Along the shore and through the swamps, you follow the shore of the Atlantic to the fishermen village of Loix. This ride takes you back to Saint-Martin de Ré.

    Cross the salt marsh to Ars-en-Ré, listed as one of the most beautiful French villages. You can extend your bike trip to the very end of the island, the village of Portes-en-Ré. You ride back to Saint-Martin de Ré.

    This bike tour takes you to the shore of the Atlantic to enjoy the beautiful beaches of white sand. You ride back to Saint-Martin de Ré.

    Saint-Martin-de-Ré – La Rochelle

    You ride back on the cycling path heading to the bridge of Ré island to return to La Rochelle.

  • Bikes


    On your arrival day, we provide you with :
    • a touring bike adjusted to your size or a tandem
    • equipped : front rack pack with an integrated file compartment, saddlebags, helmet (on demand), reflective vest, repairing toolkit with patches etc.

    We also provide you with the appropriate equipment for your children : baby seat, bike trailer or trailer bike depending on their age and size.

    Electric bikes are also available for adults for some trips. If available, the option is specified on the page "prices".

    Luggage


    Our services include luggage transport in order to let you enjoy your trip comfortably and without stress (optional for short trips) :
    • We transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next using a private vehicle.
    • Your luggage is directly delivered in your hotel room before you arrive.
    • We provide bicycle saddlebags for the things you shall need during the day.

    If your package doesn't include luggage transport,
    the bikes will be equipped with 2 waterproof saddlebags with 10 to 20L capacity each to carry your things.

    Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.

    Travel documents

    To go on a bike trip is the best way to discover the regional and local culture.


    Activities and must-sees along your route are pinpointed by specific icons in our road book. These activities have also been listed in a leaflet presenting the practical information as well as some anecdotes.

    Our detailed travel documents allow you to ride freely, at your own pace.

    It contains :

    • A road book or daily sheets : detailed description of the route with maps highlighting the different points of interest.
    • A cultural and touristic leaflet : anecdotes, historical explanations, description and practical information about the different points of interest along the route.
