  • You discover at your own pace the Lake Constance. In small stages this bike tour takes you through the idyllic countryside, vineyards and orchards to small villages and typical towns of Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The bike route almost exclusively uses bike paths.
    The tour of Lake Constance is marked by small beaches that invite you to rest and take a dip in the clear waters of the lake.
    This region nestled at the foot of the Alps is also very rich culturally and you can take the opportunity to visit the museum of palafittes, the zeppelin museum, the castle of Meersburg or the flower island Mainau.
    The lake with its great panorama of the Alps, its varied and green nature and its rich cultural heritage is rightly one of the most popular holiday regions Europe.

    Arrival in Constance

    Take time to explore this city filled with picturesque alleyways and breathtaking views of the Alps from he harbor.

    The collections of the museum in the center of the old town offer a glimpse of the rich pre and protohistory of the region of the Lake Constance. You will often find special exhibitions such as the exhibition on the life of Napoleon III, who spent his youth in the region.

    Constance - Friedrichshafen

    Your bike ride takes you through the German countryside beyond Constance to the Island of Mainau, the island of flowers. You cross the lake with the ferry to Überlingen. On the way, do not miss the charming, baroque, Birnauchurch, so typical of the region. In Unteruhldingen you can visit the prehistoric museum. Period huts on stilts have been reconstituted. Stroll in the mediaeval city of Meersburg and contemplate its impressive castle. Ride through the vineyard until Friedrichshafen where you can visit the Zeppelin museum.

    Friedrichshafen - Bregenz

    Continue your ride on the dedicated bike route and stop in Lindau, a little, typical Bavarian city. Wander around the old city and savour a good “Käsekuchen” (cheese cake) on the harbor.

    You continue your stroll towards Austria. Grab the opportunity to visit the opera festival, whose the stage, with impressive decors, is built on the Lake Constance. This festival is internationally famous.

    Bregenz - Rorschach

    Take the cable car with your bikes to get up to the peak of the Pfänder, a little mountain located just above Bregenzand culminating at 1064m.
    Enjoy the wonderful view on the Lake Constance, the hawker show and the alpine and wildlife pen. You ride back down the big descent to Bregenz. Then you continue your way in the nature reserve of the Rhine delta between Austria and Swiss.

    Region Höchst/Rorschach - Constance

    This morning the bike path follows the Swiss shore, through the picture-perfect countryside dotted with traditional villages. You’ll cross Romanshorn, the largest harbor on Lake Constance.
    You will frequently ride past little beaches from where you can take a dip in the blue waters of the lake.


    End your afternoon with a casual stroll around the old city of Constance.

    Departure from Constance

    After breakfast, take a city our before returning home. You may end up waiting to extend your tour so you can visit more of this delighful area.

    On your arrival day, we provide you with :
    • a touring bike adjusted to your size or a tandem
    • equipped : front rack pack with an integrated file compartment, saddlebags, helmet (on demand), reflective vest, repairing toolkit with patches etc.

    We also provide you with the appropriate equipment for your children : baby seat, bike trailer or trailer bike depending on their age and size.

    Electric bikes are also available for adults for some trips. If available, the option is specified on the page "prices".

    Luggage


    Our services include luggage transport in order to let you enjoy your trip comfortably and without stress (optional for short trips) :
    • We transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next using a private vehicle.
    • Your luggage is directly delivered in your hotel room before you arrive.
    • We provide bicycle saddlebags for the things you shall need during the day.

    If your package doesn't include luggage transport,
    the bikes will be equipped with 2 waterproof saddlebags with 10 to 20L capacity each to carry your things.

    Our word of advice : as we know from experience, we strongly recommend you to avoid wearing a backpack during your cycling trip.


    Travel documents

    A cycling holiday is the best way to explore a region and discover its culture, landscapes and local traditions.

    Your tour is self-guided to give you the freedom to ride at your own pace. You will be provided all the information you need to enjoy peacefully the itinerary and its interesting sites.
    You will have in your travel documents maps of the itinerary

    - a detailled bike map (scale 1:50 000)
    - a leaflet with the point of interest and your practical information (hotellist, opening hours, etc.)

    By car
    • From Paris following Troyes, Bâle and Zurich (663 km / 6h53)
    • From Strasbourg following Offenburg and Villingen (191 km / 2h30)
    • From Lyon following Geneva, Lausanne, Bern et Zurich (497 km / 4h30)

    By train:

    • From Strasbourg passing by Offenburg (3h)
    • From Lyon passing by Dijon and then Zurich (5h50)

    Parking:

    If you arrive by car, you can park at the closed open-air parking at the bike rental shop. The rate is 45€ for the duration of your trip.

    The location and contact details of the car park will be given in your travel documents.

    Meeting time:

    The first day is an arrival day without cycling. You arrive whenever you want depending on from where you come. Please note that rooms are usually available in the middle of the afternoon depending on your accommodation. We thank you to advise us if you plan to arrive late.

    Super voyage en famille!

    Pour notre premier voyage avec Le Vélo Voyageur, nous avons été ravis de découvrir le lac de Constance. Très bonne organisation au niveau des vélos et bagages, hébergements confortables avec de bons petits-déjeuners. Le parcours est bien adapté pour les enfants car la grande majorité se fait sur des pistes cyclables dédiées (souvent distinctes des chemins piétons). Nous repartirons avec plaisir dans une autre région !
