  • On your getaway to Fontainebleau, discover the green waters of the Loing and arrive at the foot of the medieval city of Moret-sur-Loing. You continue then by bike along the banks of the Seine and through the forest of Fontainebleau passing by the castle of Fontainebleau and Barbizon, the small village of painters nestled in the forest. You can even extend this rural weekend with a loop to the castles of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Blandy-lès-Tours

    Day 1

    Canoë Grez-sur-Loing - Moret-sur-Loing

You arrive in Moret-sur-Loing, a charming medieval city, which the painter Sisley liked so much. The ramparts, the keep, the church, the bridge and its mills, the Renaissance houses are all gems to discover. At the foot of the stone bridge of Grez-sur-Loing you set off for your canoe adventure on the Loing. At your own pace in peace, you will appreciate the multiple facets of the Loing valley: typical houses, fauna, flora, mill and slides. You pass at the foot of the villages of Epsisy, Montigny-sur-Loing and finish in Moret-sur-Loing.

This canoe trip is accessible to everyone, from 7 years old (knowing how to swim).

    Day 2

    Moret-sur-Loing - Bois-le-Roi

    Altitude
    ±26m
After strolling through the city, continue your cycling route along the Loing canal until the confluence with the Seine. You now continue along the Seine where you will find the famous "Affolantes" villas. You pass through the charming village of Samois-sur-Seine, known to be the last residence of musician Django Rheinhardt. You can also take a detour through Fontainebleau and its castle.

    Extension: Additional day to Vaux-le-Vicomte

    Bike
    38km
You start the day north of the Fontainebleau forest. On small country roads and paths you quickly reach the charming village of Blandy-les-Tours and admire its fortified castle, a rare vestige of medieval military architecture. A few kilometers further you discover the magnificent 17th century castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte and its formal French gardens. After strolling there, you cut through the woods to reach Melun and the banks of the Seine. Along the Seine on the towpath, you can admire the "Affolantes", these 1900s mansions each competing in architectural boldness with the other.
