  • Itinerary
  • You stay for 3 days in a charming manor in Noyelles-sur-Mer and go each day on a cycle tour throughout the Somme Bay. You start cycling to Saint-Valéry and further to Cayeux and the Hourdel Cape, where you can catch a glimpse at the seals with a trained eye (or binoculars). The next day, you cycle towards the other side of the Somme bay. After a ride on the vintage train to Le Crotoy, a loop tour takes you to the Marquenterre bird park, where you will be under the spell of the knowledge of the ornithological guides. A last itinerary goes through Crécy forest past its most remarkable trees. This center-based cycle tour has you return each night in the same accommodation. After cycling, enjoy the refinement of this house and the attentions of your host.

    Day 1

Round trip to Saint-Valéry and Le Hourdel

Starting in Noyelles-sur-Mer, you ride along the bay to Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme. Enjoy this charming medieval town and the animation of the port. You can then choose among different itineraries. You can go for the short option (28km) which takes you to the Cap Hourdel on a comfortable cycle path. After passing the lighthouse of Cap Hourdel, you keep on biking on the "white road", a wonderful cycle path along the sand dunes of the Channel before riding back towards Saint-Valéry. A longer tour (38 or 49km) takes you first in the back country through the small villages till Cayeux-sur-Mer. You cycle further on the "white road" and pass by the Cap Hourdel before riding along the bay back to Saint-Valéry and further Noyelles.

    Day 2

    Noyelles-sur-Mer - Le Crotoy

    Vintage train
You take the vintage train with your bikes to go to Le Crotoy, from where you start your loop tour. You can also take the train to go back to Noyelles after your ride.

    Round trip to the Marquenterre

You ride on the seawall of Le Crotoy and along the ponds of Les Morettes inhabited by numerous birds. Through small lanes in the countryside you reach the park of Marquenterre where we strongly suggest you to make a stop. Then follow the cycling path amongst the pine trees to the city of Rue. This former seaport and fortified town is proud of its medieval battle tower, its two churches and the inheritance of the Caudron brothers, pioneers in the aviation at the beginning of the 20th century. You come back to Le Crotoy through the countryside.

    Day 3

    Round trip to Crécy forest

Ride along the bay to Le Crotoy and then to the huge and beautiful forest of Crécy. Along the paths, you will admire the oaks and beech trees. If you have enough stamina, you can bike the longer option to observe the "warring brothers", an oak and a beech which grew embracing each other like siamiese twins, each one fighting to protect its space. When leaving the woods, you will also admire the "Chartreux" oak, which is 500 years old. You cycle back to Noyelles-sur-Mer riding behind the hunting huts.
