We visited this region two years ago and saw you could cycle from Strasbourg to Colmar, this company offered what we wanted without having to plan everything ourselves. I was really happy with the route, very quiet and away from traffic. Having bikes made it easy riding. Hotels and luggage transfer were good. Made contact with the company once and problem resolved quickly. Going in October meant it was important to have warm clothing and gloves. We would use this company again to do a different route.

« September in Alsace »
Comfortable e-bikes with good locks and roomy panniers made this cycle tour along the Route du Vin in the Alsace extremely pleasant. The route is along bikeways, agricultural lanes and canal paths, with very little car traffic for the most part. Velo Voyageur booked us into charming small hotels in picturesque villages, and the relatively short distances (25 to 35 km) between accommodations meant we had time to explore along the way, enjoy leisurely lunches, and still arrive at the next hotel with ample time to find a nice restaurant for dinner. We arrived in Ribeauville mid-afternoon on day 3 with plenty of time to hike up to the ruined castle high above the town, for example. Although we did not spend a night there, I think our favorite village was Kaysersberg, which had a ruined castle and medieval walls, a lovely river running through it and a maze of cobbled streets to explore, as well as a profusion of flowerboxes and colorful hanging baskets. Overall, this cycle tour through the Alsatian vineyards and villages was relaxing and delightful In September, the grapes are being harvested, which adds additional interest.

« We had a great time cycling amongst the Loire valley châteaux from Blois to Tours »
We drove from Scotland via Le Shuttle to enjoy the Loire at the end of the season. We stayed in Category A hotels, we slept well and their patrons and staff were all friendly, helpful and considerate. The bikes and routes were good. The domaines de chateaux were delightful. All excellent value for money. We then proceeded to spent a fortune on fabulous foods, wines and dining experiences. A great holiday.

« A wonderful way to explore the Loire Valley »
I highly recommend Le Velo Voyageur. Every step was well done, beginning with communication before the trip. The app was fantastic--really impossible to get lost using it. The luggage was always there when we arrived at each hotel. The hotels were good, and the bikes were excellent. I appreciated often having 2 options of routes to choose from, one longer and one shorter, so that you could choose each day depending on weather and if you had more or less energy.

« Excellent Bike Trip »
My husband and I just did the Loire Valley Classic Bike Trip. The staff at Velos Voyageurs were so responsive to any emails before the trip and when I had one glitch during the trip, they were very helpful. The app you use while biking is amazing and keeps you on the correct route. The hotels were all quite nice. We loved biking around the French countryside and seeing some amazing chateaux. I rented an e-bike and that was very helpful as I am not an athlete. I highly recommend Velos Voyageurs and this trip.

We are not regular cyclists but wanted to do this as a mother-daughter trip, with a good mix of culture, culinary delights and exercise. It exceeded expectations in every respect. The bikes were great, the routes charming, sometimes challenging, all enjoyable. Friendly, comfortable hotels in lovely locations and the very smooth luggage transfer service meant that we never had to worry about the weather (just as well - we started and finished in very wet conditions). Thank you to the team at Le Vélo Voyageur!

« VERY satisfied customer »
I highly recommend Le Velos Voyageur! They organized a 3-day bike trip in the Loire valley for myself and my stepson. Their service was excellent and very professional. The bikes were great, the personalized GPS application was excellent, the package included entrance to a different chateau each day, each of which was fabulous! They also took care of accommodations on the intermediate nights and for a surcharge, luggage delivery each evening. I would strongly recommend choosing their A level accommodations for slightly more money. I would definitely use them again! We had a wonderful experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives.

« Strasbourg to Colmar on ebikes »
We had a great trip with our 15 year old daughter from Strasbourg to Colmar, using ebikes. Beautiful scenery and great accommodation ... in small, medium and larger towns. The staff member in Strasbourg was very helpful in orientating us to the bikes and the way out of Strasbourg (very easy). One piece of advice, if you are planning on taking a taxi to the train station in colmar, book through the hotel the day before. There were none available at midday and staff told us taxis in colmar are "complex". We had just enough time for the bus option to work, but it was a slightly stressful end to the trip.

Riding in late April, we had a fantastic 5 days riding across the beautiful countryside and vineyards and stopping in the gorgeous small villages of Alsace. « Interessante Radreise »

« Excellent Alsatian Cycle Holiday »
From start to finish we throughly enjoyed our cycling holiday through the Alsace wine region organised by Le Velo Voyageur. Excellent company, very responsive and understanding with all the reshuffling of our plans due to Covid travel restrictions. We originally planned to go during easter however rescheduled for late September which was a much better time to go. We had no issue with bike collection or while on route. We stayed in some lovely hotels, some better equipped than others and some with better breakfasts than others however good experiences at all. The luggage transfer was very helpful and would highly recommend. The best part of the experience was the curated route though, very well planned on quiet roads, cycle lanes and canal side. The GPS was BRILLIANT. Very responsive to give us direction cues early, with an interactive map, landmarks and a secure bike mount. Best part was that it didnt drain our batter either.

We loved our bike tour through the wine region of Alsace. The countryside is beautiful, the towns and villages charming and the cuisine and wine excellent. The cycling is generally flat and easy and very compatible with enjoying the local cuisine at lunch time. Our wine tour of Domain Dussourt was outstanding. The accommodation arranged for us by velovoyageur was very convenient, comfortable and the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The handbook and gps maps we received are excellent, really informative and helpful. Only hiccup was that the bike supplier forgot our booking and we had to wait the morning in Strasbourg for him to arrive with our bikes. Not a major disaster but an incovenience. He was very apologetic and velovoyageur were straight on to him when I rang them but in future I hope that they will double check the bookings shortly before to avoid such problems. « The lure of the Loire »
Do you think you can manage cycling through villages, medieval towns, vineyards, beautiful pastoral river scenes? Would you like a fresh warm baguette on a cold day? Perhaps a bottle of wine and some raspberries, perhaps some fromage? Pause for a cup of coffee before you continue your journey. Oh, wait, another unbelievable chateau or another spectacular medieval church. Thanks to the guidance of Velo Voyageur, this was a well-planned trip which required very little on our part. They provided excellent bicycles, thorough well-planned directions, advice and accommodations. We could not have asked for more. Well, the weather was not ideal, but one can only expect so much in October. Despite having a couple rainy days and mostly cloudy days, we enjoyed and will cherish the memories of every moment of this trip. The accommodations were always delightful and the hoteliers were always informative and helpful. The riding distances were always reasonable, allowing time for exploration and deviations if the moment presented itself. The road surfaces were varied, some paved, some gravel, some dirt and were all well-marked. It is difficult to describe the feelings of peace and tranquillity that one may experience on a bicycle ride through vineyards, forests and villages in the Loire Valley. In so many of these places we felt as if we were constantly stepping in and out of a pastoral landscape painting. Is that possible? Well, perhaps, but I think we’ll have to do it again to be certain. Thanks for everything. Phil and Penny

The region is spectacular and certainly made for cycling. The paths through the vineyards are amazing!especially in harvest time. The sheer number and beauty of the medieval villages that we passed through time and again was amazing and always provided staggering moments. The accomodation was great. My wife and I are over 50 however we easily managed the ride, my wife on an e-bike, as she is not accustomed to riding, until now. This trip was a fabulous biking route. Gorgeous little medieval villages easily cycled between. Velo Voyageur's program was well organized and laid out. The only reason we didn't give a 5 rating was a few glitches in the directions (pages out of order), and one hotel room which was not a great selection. Merci, Susana & Carlos

« Lovely Spring Trip in Alsace »
This was our first time doing a cycle tour like this and we had a great time. All of the communication and service from Le Velo Voyageur was very organized and thorough. We were a little nervous going in because so much was out of our hands (from hotels to bike pickup to luggage drop-off), but everything went off without a hitch! We met our luggage pickup on the first day at exactly the right spot and time, the bikes we picked up from a rental company were brand new and came with all the equipment we needed, and the directions and route were very well-made and easy to follow. The hotels they selected were all very charming and comfortable, and they seemed very familiar with the Velo Voyageur program, so that when we arrived they were expecting us, had places for us to leave the bikes, and had our luggage waiting. We also appreciated how carefully thought-out the route was. Most of our riding was on dedicated bike paths that were paved and well-maintained. So we rarely had to worry about dealing with car traffic. The route for Alsace went through a variety of lovely terrain, from small villages to vineyards to canal-side paths. There were a few steep climbs on our route that took some serious effort to get over, but mostly the riding was pretty flat and comfortable. We took a bit of a gamble going early season in April, and ended up having some wet and cold weather a few of the days. So definitely come prepared with rain gear and a variety of layers that you can adjust to the temperature. In many of the towns we visited, it was definitely clear that the tourist season still hadn't really gotten started -- many of the wineries and cafes were still closed, or very empty. We were more concerned with the cycling, so this didn't really matter for us, but if you do care about these things it might make more sense to go during a busier part of the season. Overall a great trip, and we hope to have the chance to do another in the future!

« A Great Peddle »
I am an elderly New Zealander with moderate day cycling expertise but little French touring experience. Selection of this tour was to fulfill a long-held interest in cycling through the Loire Valley. My tour was organised before I left NZ by an efficient, English-speaking staff member. As I find map reading difficult, fearful of getting lost and as I was cycling alone the use of a GPS proved to be essential - its presence on the handlebars of my bicycle removed virtually all stress; time and time again the unit enabled me to enjoy the passing, ever-changing exquisite French landscape and yet arrive at my destination safely and on schedule. The route was very well-planned, I only walked up one hill. I avoided all major roads, heavy traffic and even difficult intersections. Instead my route wound its way along pleasant small roads, cycle tracks and farmer's tracks, through tiny villages and amazing wheat fields, in deep, lush-green forests and along river banks. The selection of scheduled stops at Castles gave me a well-earned break and satisfied my curiosity. The Bed and Breakfast style accommodation in small boutique Hotels, complete with French style and character enhanced my experience perfectly; each day my luggage was waiting on my arrival. Knowing there was a twenty four backup system in place, though I did not need it, was great comfort. In summary, I am unable nor would wish to suggest improvements or changes to Velo Voyageur's organisation or to my Tour, their service met my needs entirely and it was 'excellent value for money.' If I were to cycle in France again, I would use the services of Velo Voyageur again and what more could you ask for than that?

« A wonderful trip »
We had a wonderful trip in June 2018. It was well organised, the e-bikes were excellent (other than the lack of a computer) and the hotels were, with one exception, very good. We rode through vineyards in fresh leaf and many beautiful ancient towns. One day we cycled up into the Vosges Mountains (only big hills really) and enjoyed the forests. Couldn’t have done it without e-bikes! Highly recommended!

« Excellent Family Holiday »
This was a very enjoyable and scenic holiday and was our first hotel to hotel self guided cycling holiday for our family (2 kids aged 11 and 13). The terrain is flat to slightly rolling with a few manageable hills along the way. All communication leading up to our departure was clear and comprehensive. The maps and directions very detailed and the recommended restaurants and places were excellent. Each day there was plenty of time to stop and see the sights and still arrive at the hotel in plenty of time. My only recommendation would be to stay in either Kintzeim or Châtenois rather than Sélestat. While Sélestat is very nice, my preference are the smaller villages/towns rather than navigating into a larger centre like Sélestat. The hotels were all very clean and comfortable.

« Burgundy and Alsace »
We would highly recommend Le Velo Voyageur for a future cycling trip. They are very organized, the maps and directions are easy to follow, their recommendations for dining, groceries, and places to visit most helpful and excellent! If we needed to communicate by email, text or phone, they were quick to respond. We like the fact they are a small company and pay attention to detail. We enjoyed both the Burgundy and Alsace routes, especially because we were mostly on bike paths or small, quiet country roads. We were constantly stopping to take photos of the scenery, picturesque towns and historic sites. And of course the food and wine were wonderful! We did enjoy the food more in Burgundy as Alsace food is quite "heavy". This is just a personal preference.

« Fantastic tour »
It has been a dream of mine to cycle the Loire valley and see the chateaux but, until I found Velo Voyageur I didn't think we would be able to squeeze it into our schedule or budget. I was initially disappointed not to be seeing some of the chateaux I had read about but the selection we did see were perfect in terms of variety and interest.

« Great bicycle tour! »
Our family of five loved biking between some of the magnificent Loire Valley chateaux! The itinerary was perfect and once we got the hang of following the directions, we found the route easy to follow. The riding was easy-- the terrain was mostly flat, most of the riding was on bike paths or infrequently traveled roads-- and the scenery was stunning. We loved riding through the French countryside and found it very refreshing after a couple days in crowded Paris. Since I only speak rudimentary French, all the information in our packet was written in English and very understandable. I would highly recommend this bike tour!

« Fantastic Trip! »
Our family of four (my wife and I and our two boys 11 and 16) had an absolutely fantastic time on our three day/four night bike trip through the Loire Valley. The scenery was beautiful, the excursions were fun, and the inns and restaurants were first rate. The logistics and organization of the trip were great and allowed us to relax and enjoy the ride and scenery without having to worry about our luggage, where to eat, or how to get where we were going. We definitely plan on taking another vacation with Velo Voyageuer in the future.

« Great Trip »
Velo Voyageur did a great job organising this trip. The accommodation (category b) was good, especially Maison Blanche in Amboise. The cycle routes around the Loire valley are excellent, miles of scenic routes and no cars; brilliant! One week is insufficient to fully explore all the Chateaux between Blois and Amboise, ten days would have been better by far, we'll definitely return.

Very immpressed with Velo Voyager, this was our first European cycling trip, as we were booking trip from Australia, we weren't sure how it would turn out. Everything worked as planned by Velo Voyager, bikes were excellent, route notes and maps were easy to follow. Baggage transport between accomodation worked perfectly. Accomodation was to a very good standard. The Alsace was a great area to cycle in and the planned days cycling allowed for plenty of sightseeing.

« The Loire Valley: From Blois to Tours »
We had the most wonderful family riding holiday in April. From first contact eevrything we experienced from Velo Voyageur was terrific. Their communication was great prior to the trip, answering all my questions promptly and thoroughly. The bikes & equipment was great, the accommodation (we chose the middle level) was charming. The directions for each step of the ride were clear and easy to follow, the countryside, towns and scenery were superb, and the support from the staff when we discovered my daughter had left her soft toys in one of the previous nights accommodation was wonderful. They tracked down the toys and delivered them to us the same day - so very kind. Our kids (age 9 and 11) loved the trip as did my husband and I, and say that it was their best holiday ever. Thank you Velo Voyageur we cannot recommend you highly enough!

« A wonderful 3 days in the Loire Valley »
We did a 3-day trip from Blois to Ambroise. I cannot fault the Velo Voyageur organisation. The accommodation was good and the luggage transfer worked perfectly. The Loire Valley is a wonderful region to cycle. Velo Voyageur did a great job of putting together routes which made use of the Loire a Velo cycle routes but were original and took us to some great chateaux. The routes gave us a taste of the countryside while allowing enough time to visit a couple of castles each day. We had route choices so that we could do longer or shorter rides if we wanted to. The bikes were excellent, although the lowest gear was deliberately made to be unavailable. The generally easy terrain meant this was not a great problem. I would not hesitate to use Velo Voyageur again.

« Fantastic time - pros and cons reviewed »
My parents (ages 60 and 59) did the Blois-Amboise trip and had a fantastic time. I'll cover the pros first and touch on the one con at the end. The bikes themselves were good. Sturdy but still lightweight. Easy to pedal and gears worked fine. The baggage transfer was well worth the money! We had no problems with that and it was great to arrive at our accommodations each night and find our suitcases waiting for us. Accommodations themselves were one of the highlights- all lovely rooms in pleasant places and the proprietors were more than friendly and helpful. The document packet provided by Le Vélo Voyageur is also excellent. Very thorough and informative - lots of great resources. This company seems very well organized and timely with all communication. We also ate very well for dinner every night (not fancy, just delicious) and prices were much cheaper than in Paris. Locals out in the towns were also very friendly and over the whole 3 days we encountered probably only 2 people who did not greet us with a cheerful "bonjour." There was one negative aspect to this trip, however. The directions out of Blois were not that great. One difficulty is that roads and paths in France are not as well or thoroughly marked as they are in the U.S., for example. Some of the directions out of Blois (until we got to bike routes) told us to turn at places that were not marked, making it difficult. If you are a tourist from another country, I'd recommend getting temporary cell service in France so that you can have GPS access if necessary and also bring a fold-out map of the region. We used my cell phone a couple times to determine where we were in comparison to the maps provided. Once our directions moved to the bike routes, we had no problems. Overall: we had a fantastic time and I've already booked another trip with Le Vélo Voyageur for when a friend comes to visit in France. This was a great experience and if you enjoy physical activity and seeing the countryside, you should consider one of these well-organized bike trips.
