The Danube Cycle Route - EuroVelo 6

The Danube Cycle Route is a 1,200km cycling route that follows the river across Europe from its source in Donaueschingen to the Black Sea in Romania. It was one of the first EuroVelo routes (Atlantic-Black Sea route)) to be developed. In Germany and Austria, most of the itinerary is on cycle paths, lined with biergartens and numerous sites to visit. From Slovakia onwards, the route is more often shared, and sometimes takes on small paths. Your cycling journey along the Danube will be punctuated by numerous points of interest, including medieval towns in Germany, Baroque towns in Austria, vineyards, abbeys and European capitals. Thanks to its high-quality infrastructure, this itinerary suits a family bike trip or a bike tour with friends. The river has always been a link between the cities of Europe, benefiting from intense economic activity and cultural exchanges. A whole heritage to discover on your cycling holiday along the Danube!
