Your bike tour takes you from Bayeux to Caen. In Bayeux you discover the charming medieval town with its tapestry, the cathedral and its half-timbered houses.

You ride on small countryside roads and greet cows on your way to the landing beaches. You will discover Omaha Beach, the artificial harbor of Arromanches and continue along the beaches of Gold Beach, Sword Beach and Juno Beach.

Enjoy long sand beaches and seaside villages before riding along the canal to Caen. Discover the men’s abbey, the women’s abbey and the pedestrian zone.

Day 01
Round trip Omaha beach and Port-en-Bessin

Your bike tour takes you from Bayeux to the Overlord Museum and the American Cemetery along small country roads through villages with half-timbered houses and pastures with grazing cattle. The visit of the cemetery is really striking. You continue along the coast to the pretty little fishing port of Port-en-Bessin. Take a stroll around the port before heading back to Bayeux.

 
Day 02
Bayeux – Courseulles-sur-Mer

From Bayeux you will go through the bocage to the German batteries of Longues-sur-Mer. You continue along the cliffs to the port of Arromanches where you will not miss the visit of the D-Day museum and the circular cinema retracing the 100 days of the landing. Through fields and coastal villages you will go along the beaches Sword beach, Gold beach and finally Juno beach at Courseulles-sur-Mer where the Canadians landed. You can visit the Juno beach center or stroll on the fishing port.

 
Day 03
Courseulles-sur-Mer – Caen

From the port of Courseulles-sur-Mer you continue along the seaside villages and enjoy the long sandy beaches until the port of Ouistreham where the ferries from England arrive. Then you drive along the canal to Caen passing the Pegasus Bridge. You will discover Caen with its pedestrian zone and its magnificent abbeys of Men and Ladies.

Beginning of the trip

To get to the departure point

By plane: flight to Caen and then train to Bayeux.

By train: direct train from Paris Saint-Lazare. The duration of the trip is around 2h10. To plan your trip, www.thetrainline.com

There are both free and paid parking solutions in Bayeux. More information at www.parkopedia.fr

To get back to the starting point

There is a rail link between Caen and Bayeux (1 direct train every 20min, duration: 15min).
