This 4-day bike trip in Belgium will be full of surprises! We organized a loop tour to let you discover the most-see places of the Belgian Ardennes and the most beautiful landscapes against a backdrop of the banks of the river Meuse.

Cycle through a rich countryside, small villages where time stands still or along the riverbanks.

Dinant, Marche, Durbuy, Huy or Namur: there is so much to explore! This long weekend on your bike will also be an opportunity to taste the Belgian specialities. You cannot leave the region without enjoying Belgian frites, taking great pleasure to drinking a beer or eating some chocolate… all of this paired with the renowned Belgian good mood!

Program

Day 01
Arrival in Dinant

    Dinant is your starting point and you will find plenty of activities to enjoy there. Take the time to admire the colourful houses located on the banks of the Meuse river, explore its captivating cave or visit the citadel.

     

    Before riding, pay attention to the numerous well-decorated saxophones all around Dinant, where the inventor Adolphe Sax was born.

     
    Day 02
    Dinant – Marche en Famenne

    Take your time to discover Dinant, the Citadel city with its many tourist attractions before the departure. You ride then slightly upwards onto small countryside roads and reach Ciney where the beers-lovers will be happy to enjoy a delicious beverage.

    You cross charming villages and arrive in the Famennes area with the lively city of Marche. For the more adventurous, you can make a detour to Rochefort, the city famous for its Trappist beer and its castle.

     

     

    You then pass through charming villages and enter the Famenne region and the lively town of Marche where you can learn more about Walloon traditions. For the more intrepid, a detour is possible to Rochefort, known for its Trappist beer and its Comtal castle.

    Day 03
    Marche en Famenne – Région de Huy

    Get onto your bike and ride onto a pleasant cycle path to reach Hotton and explore the undergrounds of the caves. Follow your route and cross small villages such as Ny where time seems to stand still and enjoy a lush countryside. Take a break in Durbuy, the "smallest city of the world".

    On your way, do not miss the castles of Radhadesh or Modave riding on the comfortable cycle path to Huy. Here, visit the impressive fort reconverted into a remembrance place of WWII.

     
    Day 04
    Huy – Dinant

    After two stages to explore the Ardennes, today is a stage along the riverside. First you visit the city of Andenne and the caves of Scaldina before arriving in Namur, the capital of Wallonia.

    Make a stop at the citadel to admire the work of Vauban before cycling back to Dinant.

    You will enjoy breathtaking landscapes for the second part of your stage. From the top of the viewpoint of "Seven Meuses", from the ruins of the feudal castle of Poilvache or from the water garden of Annevoie, you will be amazed by the diversity of the region before cycling back to Dinant and enjoy its particular atmosphere.

    Departure from Dinant

      If you have taken the luggage transport option, your belongings will be dropped off at the La Merveilleuse hotel before 6 p.m.

       

      If you do not have an extra night at the end of your stay, please drop off your rental bikes at the same hotel before 6 p.m. Don't forget to leave all the accessories (bags, locks, repair kit, etc.). Any missing accessories will be charged.

       

      It is time to say goodbye, have a nice trip back!

      Start of the trip
       

      As the first day is a non-biking day, you’ll arrive at your leisure, depending on your route. Please note that rooms are usually available by mid-afternoon, depending on your accommodation. Please let the accommodation know if you are arriving late.

      To get to the departure point

      By plane: Flights to Brussels-Zaventem and then the train Dinant. You can also fly to Charleroi and then take the train (transfer in Namur, €, 1h20), a bus (€, 2h00) or a taxi (€€€, 45 min.).

       

      By train: Direct trains from London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, etc. travel to Brussels. Then switch trains towards Dinant. To plan your trip: https://www.thetrainline.com

      Car park

      You can park in one of the public parking lots of the city.

      To return to the starting point

      You arrive back at the starting point (Dinant) on your bicycle. If you have chosen the luggage transfer option, please take in consideration that your luggage will be delivered at the drop off point at 4 p.m. at the earliest. Take this in account when planning your holiday.
