Discover the most beautiful places in Puglia by bike
This 8-day trip between Matera and Lecce is a condensed version of Puglia's landscapes. Start in Matera, known for its cave dwellings, or “sassi,” which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned as one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, this village is definitely worth a visit. Stroll through its narrow streets, paved with white stone and lined with trulli. Continue your journey through the lush Itria Valley. Peaceful country roads wind through olive groves and vineyards, passing through charming white villages. Next, drive through the province of Salento from Lecce, which boasts some marvels of Baroque architecture. You will then reach the coastline dotted with ancient fortified ports such as Gallipoli and Otranto, limestone cliffs and sandy beaches. Swimming and culinary discoveries will punctuate your bike rides and allow you to appreciate the Italian “Dolce Vita".
