Discover the baroque old town of Girona. Visit the cathedral, a splendor of Gothic architecture and the medieval Jewish quarter, one of the best preserved worldwide.

From Girona you bike leisurely towards the coast. You will walk along the former railway track "El carrilet" long used as a means of transporting the goods cork. You will then reach Sant Feliu with its seaport and its historical city, beautifully illustrated by his old Benedictine monastery of the 10th century.

This stage has two distinct parts, a first and last very flat part and a central part with a large assent and descent. You will start the stage passing by the seafront towards Calonge, going through the fields to the church of Santa Coloma de Fitor. Your route continues downhill until you reach the magnificent medieval village of Peratallada. Then you go to Pals, another medieval town. Finally, passing through a flat area of fields you will arrive at Torroella de Montgrí.

Follow the course of the Daro River and discover the charm of small picturesque medieval villages like Fonolleres. Venturing further inland, your path leads to Púbol, where Gala Dalí Castle stands as a testament to Salvador Dalí's surrealism, with a captivating backdrop. Finally, for a seaside perspective, an alternative route guides you towards the coast, allowing you to kiss the beach and explore the coastal village of L'Estartit, completing this day of diverse experiences.

After the Montgrí uplands you reach the bay of Roses with its long sandy beaches and numerous natural resources.
Close to the medieval town of Sant Mari de Empúries you visit the archaeological site and remains of the Gallo-Roman period dating from 600 BC. The city of Empúries was an important market place of the Roman Empire.
You continue North through the protected marshlands of Aiguamolls de l’Emporda and arrive at the wonderful medieval village Castellò Empúries located in the heart of the natural park of the Aiguamolls.

Today you are heading to Peralade, where you visit the castle and medieval town. From there you ride through a green and wild countryside passing by Garriguella, Vilamaniscle and Rabos with the most ancient groves. You stop to visit the modern cellar of Espolla, before riding down to Figueres. Enjoy the visit of the world famous Theatre-Museum Dalo.

Leaving the capital of surrealism, your journey takes you to the volcanic landscapes of the Pyrenees region. You will start your route towards the south, in an undulating region partially covered by the Mediterranean forest. Continuing your exploration, you will cross the surroundings of Lake Banyoles before arriving at Santa Pau. This picturesque town is nestled amid a landscape dotted with small volcanoes whose forested slopes add to the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Passing through a serene beech forest, your path guides you to the town of Olot.

Beginning of the trip
As the first day is a non-biking day, you’ll arrive at your leisure, depending on your route. Please note that rooms are usually available by mid-afternoon, depending on your accommodation. Please let us know if you are arriving late.
To get to the departure point
En avion :Flight to Girona then shuttle to city center. Flight to Barcelona then train (“RER”) to Sants station (22 min) then regional train to Girona (38 min)
En train : TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon station. Travel time is 5h45. Plan your trip on, thetrainline.
To get back to the starting point
You take the regional train if you want to return to your starting point. Trains are without reservation. The ticket must be purchased on site (full price around €6/adult). There are several trains during the day. We can, on request, organize a transfer by private vehicle.
