Cycling tour of Scotland between Perth and Pitlochry

From the city of Perth, just 1h20 by train from Edinburgh, take to the back roads and head for the green lands of Scotland. From charming little Gothic towns to the valleys inhabited by the country's many sheep, the varied landscapes you'll discover will certainly not leave you indifferent. This tour takes you north. Stop off in the small town of Dunkeld, stroll along the river and admire its majestic cathedral. Your journey continues to Pitlochry, where you'll stay for two nights. You'll then have plenty of time to visit the grand Blair Castle and its 32 rooms, before enjoying a whisky tasting at Scotland's smallest distillery.

Day 01
Arrival in Perth

    Welcome to what was once the capital of Scotland. Drop off your suitcases and discover this beautiful city with its grandiose architecture and a landscape marked by its royal past.

    Perth – Dunkeld

    Start your day with a detour to Scone Palace. Perched atop a small hill, this 19th-century monument has long been the coronation ground for Scottish kings. Continue north on country roads until you reach Dunkeld. Here you can enjoy a moment's rest on the banks of the River Tay, lined with traditional Scottish houses.

    Dunkeld – Pitlochry

    You leave the pretty town of Dunkeld. Follow the small roads through Scottish valleys and fields. Follow the banks of the River Tay for a while and head for Pitlochry. On arrival, stroll through the streets and make a detour to Scotland's smallest distillery in search of the finest whisky.

    Loop around Pitlochry

    Take advantage of your second day in Pitlochry to explore the surrounding area. You'll cycle through the Killiecrankie Valley to the famous Blair Castle. You'll have the pleasure of discovering 32 rooms full of art and history.

      Enjoy a final stroll through the town of Pitlochry before setting off again.

      Beginning of the trip

      As the first day is a non-biking day, you’ll arrive at your leisure, depending on your route. Please note that rooms are usually available by mid-afternoon, depending on your accommodation. Please let the accommodation know if you are arriving late.

      To get to the departure point

      By plane: From Edinburgh airport, you can reach Edinburgh station (Airlink 100) by stopping at Waverley Bridge.
      Then take a train to Perth. The journey takes around 1h40 and the ticket costs between £10 and £15.Alternatively, you can arrive at Glasgow International Airport, take the shuttle bus (First 500) to Queen Street station and catch the train to Perth. The journey takes around 1h30 and the ticket costs between £10 and £15.

      There is a rail link between Pitlochry and Perth (approx. 35 min.).
