Cycling trip to the south of Portugal from Faro to Sagres.

Get on your bikes and set off to explore the magnificent Algarve region, a sublime coast in the south of Portugal with the most beautiful beaches in the country. For a long time under Moorish influence, the Algarve has preserved certain traces of this past, particularly in its architecture and gastronomy. The route begins at the Spanish border and takes you to the extreme southwest of Europe, the Cape St. Vincent.

The stay offers you a succession of landscapes, each more sumptuous than the last, from the salt marshes and lagoons of the Ria Formosa to the golden sandy beaches bordered by steep cliffs. You will cross paths with small typical villages like that of more popular seaside resorts. Discover Faro and its charming historic center, Tavira and its traditional houses or even Lagos and its numerous remains.

The popular towns of Albufeira and Portimão offer you continuous entertainment, day and night! This 8-day stay offers you a great overview of the treasures of the Algarve along the tourist coast but also off the beaten track in more authentic and traditional places.

Then, the route continues on bike paths and natural roads through pine through pine forests, citrus groves and vineyards, always along the sea, passing through the sea, passing through the tourist resorts of Monte Gordo and Manta Rota, which are crowded with
crowded with vacationers in summer, but quiet and deserted in winter. Along the way, you will see typical Algarve trees, such as typical trees of the Algarve, such as almond, olive, carob and fig trees, which were once the main source of income for farmers. But today, due to the fall in prices they are no longer sufficient to meet their needs. You pass through the villages of Cacela Velha, Fabrica and then Cabanas, with a beautiful paved promenade and its fortress from the 17th century fortress. We continue through the numerous lagoons, passing by the salt ponds, the famous salt exploitation "Flor de Sal" and along the unique natural park "Ria Formosa" towards Tavira, the final destination of today's stage. The Gilão River flows through the middle of Tavira and along the shore of a beautiful promenade with many small and romantic fish restaurants. The countless small bridges are reminiscent of Venice, which is why Tavira is also called the "Venice of the Algarve".
