From Morlaix to Quimper: the Finistère coastline by bike
From Morlaix to Quimper, cycle along Finistère coasts. Discover a part of Brittanny on quiet roads, between land an littoral.
Pedal along the Breton coastline between breathtaking nature and local legends
Welcome to this corner of France often referred to as “the end of the world”, where the fine white sandy beaches and translucent water will make you think you're not in Brittany. And yet, you're pedaling on a cycling itinerary called the Littorale, signposted and designed to discover Finistère and all its facets. The route starts in Morlaix, under its imposing aqueduct, and very soon you're heading north, to make your first stopover in Roscoff, where you can't fail to taste its famous onions. You'll then continue along the route, which offers some beautiful relief, and what the Bretons call the abers (estuary), Aber Wrac'h, Aber Benoît and Aber Ildut. You'll discover some of the region's must-sees, including Le Conquet, Brest and its maritime heritage, and the Crozon peninsula, which you'll reach by river shuttle. As you continue along the coast, you'll discover port towns such as Douarnenez and Penmarc'h, where you can sample seafood and freshly caught fish. Finally, you'll arrive at the end of your itinerary on a pleasant greenway, in Quimper, where you'll be greeted by its magnificent cathedral.
Program
When you arrive in Morlaix, you couldn’t miss the viaduc, the emblem of the city, which is 62m high! You will also be entertained by the sloping alleys where you will discover some nice mural paintings in the lively port-city.
Discover the impressive "maisons à pondalez" (overhanging houses) before enjoying a nice buckwheat pancake in a welcoming typical restaurant.
