Day 01
Arrival in Blois

    Discover the charms of the old town and the Chateau of Blois, the scene of many court intrigues. Let yourself be enchanted by the perfume of power still wafting through the chateau in Catherine de Médicis' poison cabinet.

    Blois – Cheverny via le château de Chambord

    Pénétrez dans la majestueuse forêt de Chambord pour admirer les salamandres sculptées du plus extravagant des châteaux de la Loire. Au sortir du château, vous pouvez vous offrir une escapade bucolique du côté de Neuvy avec de nombreux étangs (+ 26 kms) ou vous diriger plus rapidement du côté de Bracieux. Profitez de l’ombre fraîche des arbres centenaires, puis de la rive du Cosson, avant de retomber en enfance au château de Cheverny qui inspira le fameux château de Moulinsart dans Tintin.

    Cheverny – Veuzain-sur-Loire

    Today you have the choice of two bike routes. Stroll through Beauregard castle's art gallery. You’ll find over 327 portraits of famous European leaders that forged history between 14th and 17th Century. Looking for something more active? Ride through vineyards before arriving in front of the Fougères-sur-Bièvre drawbridge. Your ride then takes you on a delightful route as you follow the toues, or traditional boats along the Loire bike path to Chaumont-sur-Loire. The city is famous for its fairy tale castle as well as the International Garden Festival which displays over 30 themed gardens with a variety of garden art. After marveling at the castle and gardens, cross the Loire river to reach Veuzain-sur-Loire.

    Veuzain-sur-Loire – Amboise

    This morning’s route takes you directly to the beautiful city of Amboise. The medieval town has links to the French Royal Family and is where Leonardo de Vinci spent his last few years at the Clos Lucé castle. Explore the many cobblestone streets and check out the unique architectural features of the castle of Amboise. The castle gives you one of the best overall views of the Loire Valley.

    Amboise – Chenonceaux

    Your tranquil bike route today leads you through idyllic natural beauty with rivers and forests, leading to the most iconic Chateaux de la Loire, the "Chateau de Chenonceau". This historical castle had an almost uninterrupted succession of women who built, restored and saved the castle. Today it is one of the most photographed castles in France. If you like, continue riding along the banks of the Cher River until you reach the underground city near Bourré and its mushroom cellar.

    Chenonceaux – Tours

    From the banks of the Cher, you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the arches of the Chenonceau castle. You follow peacefuly country roads and towpaths along the banks of the Cher river until you reach the city center of Tours.

      Beginning of the trip
       

      As the first day is a non-biking day, you’ll arrive at your leisure, depending on your route. Please note that rooms are usually available by mid-afternoon, depending on your accommodation. Please inform your host in case of late arrival.

       

      You will have a personalized welcome meeting at 6 pm or the next morning at 9 am, at your convenience.

      To get to the departure point

      By plane: flight to Paris or Tours and then train to Blois.

      By train: arrive at Blois-Chambord train station (direct or with connections), by regionnal train or high speed train (TGV). Plan your journey with Trainline.

       

      We will pick you up at Blois train station to take you to your accommodation.

      Car park

      If you’re coming by car, you can park your vehicle in one of the city’s public parking lots. You can also look at the Parkopedia website to find out the location and price of each parking lot.

      To get back to the starting point

      You take the train back to your departure point. The ticket can be bought in advance online or directly at the station on the day of travel. There are several trains during the day. If you’re traveling with your own bike, be sure to ask the SNCF about conditions for traveling with a bike.

       

      We will drive you to Tours train station from your accommodation.
