« A perfect romantic Bike trip with views and wine »
My husband and I are not daily bikers but found the trip very doable and the views and wine spectacular! The small towns were picturesque and the vineyard route was very scenic. The luggage service and app made the daily travel trivial.

« VERY satisfied customer »
I highly recommend Le Velos Voyageur! They organized a 3-day bike trip in the Loire valley for myself and my stepson. Their service was excellent and very professional. The bikes were great, the personalized GPS application was excellent, the package included entrance to a different chateau each day, each of which was fabulous! They also took care of accommodations on the intermediate nights and for a surcharge, luggage delivery each evening. I would strongly recommend choosing their A level accommodations for slightly more money. I would definitely use them again! We had a wonderful experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives.

Topweek gehad: alles prima verzorgd.

« Loved Alsace wine region tour »
We loved our bike tour through the wine region of Alsace. The countryside is beautiful, the towns and villages charming and the cuisine and wine excellent. The cycling is generally flat and easy and very compatible with enjoying the local cuisine at lunch time. Our wine tour of Domain Dussourt was outstanding. The accommodation arranged for us by velovoyageur was very convenient, comfortable and the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The handbook and gps maps we received are excellent, really informative and helpful. Only hiccup was that the bike supplier forgot our booking and we had to wait the morning in Strasbourg for him to arrive with our bikes. Not a major disaster but an incovenience. He was very apologetic and velovoyageur were straight on to him when I rang them but in future I hope that they will double check the bookings shortly before to avoid such problems. If you decide to publish my opinion and want some photos then let me know

« Beautiful trip on quiet side paths »
The route was well laid out almost only on paved paths with no motorized traffic. The choice of hotels was nice - cozy local small hotels, with friendly service. Bikes and luggage transport also worked as it should.

« tricky without GPS »
For the 3-day tour through Loire Valley from Blois to Amboise, you are following a printed packet of turn-by-turn directions, which were sometimes tricky to follow. I'd recommend having something with GPS to supplement the guide.

« Lovely Spring Trip in Alsace »
This was our first time doing a cycle tour like this and we had a great time. All of the communication and service from Le Velo Voyageur was very organized and thorough. We were a little nervous going in because so much was out of our hands (from hotels to bike pickup to luggage drop-off), but everything went off without a hitch! We met our luggage pickup on the first day at exactly the right spot and time, the bikes we picked up from a rental company were brand new and came with all the equipment we needed, and the directions and route were very well-made and easy to follow. The hotels they selected were all very charming and comfortable, and they seemed very familiar with the Velo Voyageur program, so that when we arrived they were expecting us, had places for us to leave the bikes, and had our luggage waiting. We also appreciated how carefully thought-out the route was. Most of our riding was on dedicated bike paths that were paved and well-maintained. So we rarely had to worry about dealing with car traffic. The route for Alsace went through a variety of lovely terrain, from small villages to vineyards to canal-side paths. There were a few steep climbs on our route that took some serious effort to get over, but mostly the riding was pretty flat and comfortable. We took a bit of a gamble going early season in April, and ended up having some wet and cold weather a few of the days. So definitely come prepared with rain gear and a variety of layers that you can adjust to the temperature. In many of the towns we visited, it was definitely clear that the tourist season still hadn't really gotten started -- many of the wineries and cafes were still closed, or very empty. We were more concerned with the cycling, so this didn't really matter for us, but if you do care about these things it might make more sense to go during a busier part of the season. Overall a great trip, and we hope to have the chance to do another in the future!

« Fantastic tour »
It has been a dream of mine to cycle the Loire valley and see the chateaux but, until I found Velo Voyageur I didn't think we would be able to squeeze it into our schedule or budget. I was initially disappointed not to be seeing some of the chateaux I had read about but the selection we did see were perfect in terms of variety and interest.

« Great bicycle tour! »
Our family of five loved biking between some of the magnificent Loire Valley chateaux! The itinerary was perfect and once we got the hang of following the directions, we found the route easy to follow. The riding was easy-- the terrain was mostly flat, most of the riding was on bike paths or infrequently traveled roads-- and the scenery was stunning. We loved riding through the French countryside and found it very refreshing after a couple days in crowded Paris. Since I only speak rudimentary French, all the information in our packet was written in English and very understandable. I would highly recommend this bike tour!

« Fantastic Trip! »
Our family of four (my wife and I and our two boys 11 and 16) had an absolutely fantastic time on our three day/four night bike trip through the Loire Valley. The scenery was beautiful, the excursions were fun, and the inns and restaurants were first rate. The logistics and organization of the trip were great and allowed us to relax and enjoy the ride and scenery without having to worry about our luggage, where to eat, or how to get where we were going. We definitely plan on taking another vacation with Velo Voyageuer in the future.

We were very satisfied with this bike trip. The bikes (and accessories) were great - provided us with a smooth ride. The directions were clear and we appreciated the long, medium, and short options. « A wonderful 3 days in the Loire Valley »
We did a 3-day trip from Blois to Ambroise. I cannot fault the Velo Voyageur organisation. The accommodation was good and the luggage transfer worked perfectly. The Loire Valley is a wonderful region to cycle. Velo Voyageur did a great job of putting together routes which made use of the Loire a Velo cycle routes but were original and took us to some great chateaux. The routes gave us a taste of the countryside while allowing enough time to visit a couple of castles each day. We had route choices so that we could do longer or shorter rides if we wanted to. The bikes were excellent, although the lowest gear was deliberately made to be unavailable. The generally easy terrain meant this was not a great problem. I would not hesitate to use Velo Voyageur again.

« Fantastic time - pros and cons reviewed »
My parents (ages 60 and 59) did the Blois-Amboise trip and had a fantastic time. I'll cover the pros first and touch on the one con at the end. The bikes themselves were good. Sturdy but still lightweight. Easy to pedal and gears worked fine. The baggage transfer was well worth the money! We had no problems with that and it was great to arrive at our accommodations each night and find our suitcases waiting for us. Accommodations themselves were one of the highlights- all lovely rooms in pleasant places and the proprietors were more than friendly and helpful. The document packet provided by Le Vélo Voyageur is also excellent. Very thorough and informative - lots of great resources. This company seems very well organized and timely with all communication. We also ate very well for dinner every night (not fancy, just delicious) and prices were much cheaper than in Paris. Locals out in the towns were also very friendly and over the whole 3 days we encountered probably only 2 people who did not greet us with a cheerful "bonjour." There was one negative aspect to this trip, however. The directions out of Blois were not that great. One difficulty is that roads and paths in France are not as well or thoroughly marked as they are in the U.S., for example. Some of the directions out of Blois (until we got to bike routes) told us to turn at places that were not marked, making it difficult. If you are a tourist from another country, I'd recommend getting temporary cell service in France so that you can have GPS access if necessary and also bring a fold-out map of the region. We used my cell phone a couple times to determine where we were in comparison to the maps provided. Once our directions moved to the bike routes, we had no problems. Overall: we had a fantastic time and I've already booked another trip with Le Vélo Voyageur for when a friend comes to visit in France. This was a great experience and if you enjoy physical activity and seeing the countryside, you should consider one of these well-organized bike trips.
