  • This bike trip have you discover the delights of Rennes, the capital of Brittany, the city of pirates Saint Malo and Dinan with its medieval streets.

You will also ride along the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel to see the majestic abbey set against a clear sky, gradually getting closer and closer.

But Brittany is not just its major emblems. You meander on greenways along the canals in the shade of the trees, ride along the sea, try oyster dishes and push inland to meet the unknown pearls as Dinan or Dol-de-Bretagne.

A cycle tour is really the best way to wander across Brittany and enjoy your vacation.

    Day 1

Rennes is the young and vibrant capital city of Brittany. Take a ride along the Ille and the Vilaine rivers and discover this dynamic city which architecture mixes many styles and periods.

You will not want to miss out the delicious crepes, one of Bretagne’s food specialities.

    Day 2

Follow the banks to the “Ille et Rance” canal to reach the boat hauling path. Don’t miss out the Canal House to learn about the different phases of the canal construction.
You will pass many pretty locks along the way.

    Day 3

You ride your way along “Ille et Rance” canal to Dinan. Have a look at the 43-meter high “Tour de l’Horloge”, which stands both as a dungeon and a bell tower.
On your way, you will pass through the lovely medieval town Lehon and its splendid royal abbey.

    Day 4

Leaving the boat hauling path, you ride further into the countryside throughout fields and forests on a cycling path built on a former railway.
You arrive in the coastal city of Dinard with beautiful mansions overlooking the ocean.

    Extension to Dinard

Between Day 3 and Day 4
You can spend an extra night in the beautiful town of Dinard.

    Day 5

Enjoy your resting day to stroll in Saint-Malo and gaze at its corsairs mansions (the so-called “Malouinières”), its fortifications and its moored sailing boats.

Suggested day trip : a tour of Saint-Malo mansions

Ride around Saint-Malo and take a tour of the “Malouinières”, these magnificent mansions built by corsairs when they decided to retire from their adventurous life in the quietness of the countryside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cycle tour of Brittany. We really enjoyed the hotels - the quality and location were much better than we expected. The cycle route was excellent, very little time spent on busy roads. Lots of interesting places to visit. Organisation of the trip was excellent. When our information package didn't arrive due to a mail strike, a solution was quickly found.

Great to discover Bretagne this way, and perfect climate during summer, avoiding the warmest part of France. Charming small villages, never heard of before, are now part of our memories for the summer of 2015. Dinan a perfect ´match´ after a long warm day. Wish another trip to be made for Normandie!
